Running a Tax Search by Tax Identification Number

To run a tax search by tax identification number:

  1. Click Tax to display Tax Search. Alternatively, you can run a tax search in conjunction with a Combination Search.

  2. Type an order number to Create an Open Order or Add Search to an Existing Order. If adding a search to an existing order, you must also click Add to Existing Order.

--OR--

Do not type an order number to perform a Non-Order Search.

Note: Unless you choose View Extended Tax Information, only abbreviated tax reports are available when performing a Non-Order Search, and the complete tax reports are available when you open an order.

  1. Optionally type Order Comments or Starter Remarks.

  2. Click to Choose State, County, Company, Department, and Title Officer options.

  3. Click for the Tax Identification Number Search By method to display APN fields and Enter Tax Identification Number.

Note: Counties use different tax number formats. As such, when you change a county, the APN text example above the Tax Identification Number field changes accordingly.

  1. Type the Tax Identification Number.

  1. Click Note to add Tax Notes to Full Tax searches. This feature is only available in Cook, IL.

  2. Click to auto-run Future, Underlying, and/or Related Parcels to retrieve a tax report for those parcels (if available).

  3. Click:

  1. If applicable, select either TitleTax or Property Tax Direct to select the who will fulfill the tax request.

  2. Click Add More APNs if needing to type more than one Tax ID Number. Each time you click Add More APNs, the fields that display double.

  1. Click Begin Search to start the search. If you:

Print Only to begin your search. The search launches (as described for Begin Search) and the report automatically prints if one result is found. If more than one result is found, the Cross Reference Pick List displays.

  1. If the tax report displays, see Viewing Tax Report for the next steps. If Cross Reference Pick List displays, see Using Cross Reference Pick List for the next steps. How results display depends on how you set up your Tax Search Preferences and whether you clicked Begin Search or Print Only.

Note: It is possible, and acceptable, for a Tax Search to yield no results. TitlePoint will respond with a "No records found" message.
