Order Statuses

An order can possess one of the statuses described in the table below.

Order Status

Description

Open

When you Create an Order, it opens. An order that is open means:

  • An open order posting is applied to the plant for property or tax searches.

  • Searches can be dated down.

Closed

Orders close because the order completes and a policy is (or will be) issued. Closing an Order is a two-stage process:

  1. When an order first closes, the Open order status changes to a Closed In-Recording status (which is a limited time period defined at the department level by an administrator). This temporary status provides you a window of opportunity to change an order from the Closed In-Recording state back to open (such as in cases where a recording is pulled and not recorded). See Re-opening Orders for further details.

  2. When the order closes after this predefined time period:

  • Property plant postings change to Closed. A Closed posting will not be a "starter" type posting or indicate the policy type. Starter type posts to the plant when documents/policies are received to create an image, and then the Closed posting changes to the starter posting.

  • Tax postings delete on the next scheduled posting date.

Canceled

Orders are canceled because a title company’s customer cancels an order without a policy being created. However, sometimes a prelim or commitment might be produced that can be posted to the plant for use as a starter. You can Cancel an Order in TitlePoint when a prelim or commitment is written and will be sent to the plant to post as a starter. When you cancel an order, TitlePoint:

  • Updates property postings on the plant system to indicate Cancel. A Cancel posting will not be a "starter" type posting or indicate the policy type. Starter type will post to the plant when documents/policies are received to create an image, and then the Cancel posting will change to Prelim/Commitment Good for Starter.

  • Deletes tax posting records.

Deleted

You delete orders that are no longer necessary (such as from an opening error, escrow fell through, no money was received, or no policy will be produced), where you want no visible record on the plant for those orders. Deleting an Order makes them no longer available on the system. When you delete an order, TitlePoint deletes the property and tax postings on the plant system.
