About Business Entity Searches

Only available in select states, the Business Entity Search searches for information from the Secretary of State or other governmental agency to determine a correct business name and ensure that the business is in good standing with the state.

Acquiring business entity results requires performing three primary steps:

Running a Business Entity Search, which includes entering optional order information and the business entity name. Please review the Business Entity Search Screen for information about each field in the business entity search.

Note: You can open an order by running a business entity search; however, results can only reside as Information-Only Components in orders.

Viewing and Using Business Entity Search Pick List provides an intermediate step that lists one or more business records. From this list you can choose one or more business entity reports.
Viewing and Using Business Entity Report displays a business entity report(s) you can print, as well as allowing you to launch the Name Search Screen and pre-populate it with the Business Entity Name to Run a Name Search.
