About Name Searches

Also known as a GI or IC Search, a Name Search is one that is performed to determine whether there are any liens, judgments, general powers of attorney, etc., recorded against a particular individual or company. It searches TitlePoint's database of documents recorded against the entered name, providing name results. Thus, the results are a collection of documents recorded against a given name.

To run a Name Search minimally requires having one or more individual or business names. The remaining search fields are used to further refine search results. Acquiring name results requires performing three primary steps:

Running a Name Search, which includes entering optional Order information and identifying filtering characteristics. Please review the Name Search Screen for information about each field in the name search, and Name Search Reference Guide for further information about specific name searching rules.
Viewing Name Search Results, which includes initially viewing search results prior to manipulation. Please review the Name Search Results Screen for information about each field in the name search results.
Manipulating Name Search Results, which includes additionally filtering and ordering search results to display in a meaningful manner.
